Roller Derby Madness

I can always rely on the Amazing Dano to shake me out of my boredom. He calls me out of the blue and somehow has managed to get VIP tickets to the Rosecity Roller Derby's semi-finals. Having absolutely nothing better to do, I gladly accept this chance at passing the time faster.

Roller Derby has never made much sense to me, though on principle it has its appeal. Hey a bunch of tough chicks knocking the crap out of each other. Its a bit roman for me but hey why not. So it was the Break Neck Betties versus the High Rollers. For my first game, I'm led to understand that it was a monumental event as it was one of the closest games in recent history. The Break Neck Betties are 2007 Champions, and typical recognized as the likely winners of 2008. Apparently I'm now a groupie of the Break Neck Betties - hey a free T-shirt and free beer sealed the deal.

Back in Portland, Dusting Off this Old Blog

I returned to Portland recently and have been trying to readjust to the Portland reality. Its just not happening to me, I feel completely claustrophobic! This no doubt sounds strange coming from someone who just left a ship that was 900 ft long on a good day. But its the sense of limitation that this place brings to me that bothers me.

I suppose being away from the love of my life, Judy doesn't help much either. Portlanders seem too pasty and just too damned white for me now. I think my life in Portland is over, this is no longer home for me. But where is home now?

I am officially out of here on Nov. 17th. I'll be sailing out of San Diego on the Carnival Elation, doing the Baja Mexico run.

The Clip Art Conspiracy

I have come to the conclusion that the mafia must operate all of the supposed "free clipart" web site on the Internet. To enter this hive of scum and villainy is to step into a revolving door of sites that simply refer to each other and eventually lead you to either porn sites "Wanda Whips Wallstreet" or to "free" software download sites.

The big question: Is it the Russian or the Italian Mob behind all of this.

Very Sick Dick

I have always talked about crazy ideas that would make sweet T-shirts and the like, but as many people do, I simply talked schmack and moved on. Yesterday was ALMOST one of those days.

I was hanging out with a friend and mentioned an idea that occurred to me - yet another way to abuse our "beloved" VP Dick Cheney.

My friend dared me to put my money where my mouth was. One stock photo and a photoshop session later... I present to you my new CafePress store, Shop Naked!!

A New Oxymoron: Yoga Studio Potluck

I've just returned from a potluck/open house at the Yoga Studio down the street. They got the open house part down, no problem. The potluck was a bit less impressive, but what should I expect with a group of mostly anorexic women chatting among themselves and eating carrot sticks... Mostly vegan chili and other foodie FEMA-like disasters.

Damn, I need some beef.
